Welcome to our blog, we are Sara & Ale: we are Italians and we love to travel and taste. We coined the term Foodmadics to describe those who travel & taste like us.

Sara is sweet, quirky, funny and writes all the content in this blog. She is a great travel planner but also disaster-prone and a little bit of a scaredy cat sometimes. Shh, don’t tell her this last part or she’ll put on her angry face..

Ale (like the beer, yes, but pronounced differently!) is cheeky, methodical and sometimes extremely annoying. But hey, he was the one deciding to build this website

Why we decided to start Foodmadics – those who travel and taste

In 2012 we have moved from Italy to London where we have worked, lived and met people from all over the world.
There, we have realised that our taste and ability to discover good food and our approach to travel was surprisingly not so obvious to everyone as it was for us.

In fact, over the last 10+ years, we have been lucky enough to travel from South America to New Zealand, to Sweden and Japan; 40+ countries and counting.. What we learned is that in every place food is part of the travel experience; no trip can be complete if you don’t explore the local cuisine.

And then one day in December 2016 we were in a car in Hawaii and we felt that all our travel experience was going to be somehow lost in the years.
Add to the recipe the fact that Sara always wanted to write about travel and food and Ale had the experience to create a blog and promote it: it took us no more than 1 hour to decide.

2017 – The year of the Big Trip. And the content of this blog and how to navigate it

In 2017, we decided to take a break from our corporate jobs (Sara worked in an advertising agency and Ale dedicated his last 10 years to digital innovation and mobile payments) to go for an adventure that we have named the Big Trip.

We have put all our possessions in a storage, sold what we did not need and left London on the 11th of July to visit Russia, China and Mongolia as a start.

While we were preparing for The Big Trip, we built this website with the history of our travels that you can find in the Travel & Taste section.
In that section, every blog post will offer a visual way to represent a blog post: we named “Travelcards” every card that you will find there

Each Travelcard is linking to a blog post that includes 10 + 1 tips:

10 reasons to travel to a destination
+ 1 visual summary: “Why Go” & “Must Taste”

Most Blog posts will mix up travel tips and what to taste almost in a recipe, some others will be showing off just food.

For more than 10 years we have called the world our home and we have explored and travelled trying delicious (or not!) food from every country.
