Foodmadics: “those who travel to taste”

Sara & Ale

Welcome to our blog, we are Sara & Ale: we are Italians and we love to travel and taste. We coined the term Foodmadics to describe those who travel & taste like us.

Sara is sweet, quirky, funny and writes all the content in this blog. She is a great travel planner but also disaster-prone and a little bit of a scaredy cat sometimes. Shh, don’t tell her this last part or she’ll put on her angry face..

Ale (like the beer, yes, but pronounced differently!) is cheeky, methodical and sometimes extremely annoying. But hey, he was the one deciding to build this website

How we planned our trip in Russia on the Transiberian railway:

HongKong: 10 reasons to visit and their local food

Western people consider HongKong the doorway to China and we were not an exception. This has been our first time in Asia and we got captured by how different everything appears from what we are used to. Starting from the small things: you’ll feel like an illiterate again and moving around might seem challenging at first. Once you get used to the discomfort, you’ll discover that also food is not something you are used to and the safe choices will be dumplings and Beijing duck, but it would be a shame to miss out on fruits like the Durian and the water apple – difficult to find in the Western world and worth a try.
If you feel adventurous, in local markets you should also try the dried fishes that are conserved in craters just by the side of the road. A lot to take in, while the bright lights of the city from Victoria’s peak at night will mesmerise you!

Antigua: 10 reasons to visit and their local food

From the incredible 365 beaches of Antigua to the taste of the mahi-mahi, Caribbeans are nothing far from a paradise on earth – you can trust what everyone is saying! At first, you might find yourself a little lost in all the villages but the smiles of local people sipping their favourite Rhum will make you forget all the rules back home. Accommodations are mainly for honeymooners but will suit backpackers as well with some additional research. If you want to spoil yourself,  you can find rooms with views directly on the seaside. Forget cocktails for once (but do try Pina Coladas..) and taste fresh coconuts, plantain chips and natural juices relaxing by the side of the beach. Welcome to paradise, welcome to the Caribbeans..
